The Café Coordinator at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (CAM) is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position working Wednesday through Saturday, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. This position is critical to CAM’s frontline visitor experience program and provides exceptional customer service by fulfilling beverage/food orders and processing payment transactions efficiently and expediently. This position reports to CAM’s Deputy Director.
Responsibilities
/ Perform daily opening/closing tasks: cleaning/servicing equipment, trash removal, washing dishes, sweeping/mopping, sanitizing surfaces, and informing CAM’s Deputy Director of supply order needs
/ Process transactions in the Point of Sale (POS) system
/ Attend training sessions and informational meetings on food/beverage preparation, food safety, and CAM required HR and/or seasonal all-staff meetings
/ Fulfill food orders by warming, plating and serving pre-made selections
/ Fulfill beverage orders by brewing coffee/tea or making espresso or milk-tea based drinks or serving can/bottled beverages
Qualifications
/ One year of prior experience as a barista/food service
/ Exceptional customer service skills, including the ability to engage customers while maintaining expedient service
/ Experience with digital POS systems preferred; Shopify a bonus
/ Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure
/ Excellent verbal, written, listening, and visual communication skills
/ Creative and well organized, with strong attention to detail and a positive attitude
/ Self-starter with the ability to solve problems and stay calm under pressure
/ Flexible schedule to accommodate events
/ Must be able to lift 20 pounds, stand for long periods at a time, and operate standard café and espresso equipment
Compensation
This is a part-time position starting at $15/hr. plus tips.
